  7.  The Grassroots Party was formed to promote the interests
  8. of Peace, Freedom and Justice. After much deliberation,it
  9. was decided to make the hemp legalization issue our main
  10. campaign platform. We felt that we could accomplish the
  11. most good in the most areas by helping to change the law
  12. against hemp. We felt there would be benefits to the
  13. environment, civil rights, medicine and the economy, by
  14. changing this one law.
  15. When the GRP was founded in 1986, the Hemp Movement was
  16. in it's infancy, so we forged on alone, only slightly
  17. ahead of our time.
  18. Now, ten years later, the Hemp Movement has grown into
  19. a multitude of organizations, across the nation, and
  20. around the world.
  21. The Grassroots Party has grown as well, into a potent
  22. political organization with dedicated volunteers in
  23. several different states, ready to bring the struggle
  24. for hemp legalization into the ballot box, and right
  25. into the faces of prohibitionist politicians and
  26. an apathetic public.
  27. The Grassroots Party is about going head-on against
  28. narco-fascists, not just as John Q. Public, but as a
  29. candidate on equal ground, not to ask for mercy,
  30. but to demand justice.
  31. Our record speaks for itself.
  32. The time has come for a nation-wide effort by the Hemp
  33. Movement. To be effective, it must be POLITICAL, and
  34. it must be ORGANIZED.
  35. The GRP is a political organization.
  36.  
  37. To support ineffective organizations is worse than
  38. doing nothing, it's wasted effort that could have done
  39. some good. As the saying goes, "If you plant ice, you're
  40. gonna harvest wind."
  41. The Hemp Movement is made up of many great people, who
  42. contribute to the cause in many diverse ways. The
  43. GRP salutes and supports all whose efforts support real
  44. hemp law reform. Total reform. 
  45. The GRP does not support those whose goal is only
  46. industrial hemp, or only medical hemp or decrim of
  47. personal amounts.
  48. These are half-measures that will not address the whole
  49. situation.
  50. The GRP supports all these measures, combined, and then
  51. some. Our goal is to make hemp as legal as corn.
  52. We will not stop until it's accomplished.

  54.  The Grassroots Party has this to offer the Hemp Movement:
  55.  
  56.  1) A unifying front with genuine political influence, and 
  57.   a presence in the ballot box, where laws and policies
  58.   are made and changed.
  59.  
  60.  2) A program that encompasses all aspects of the hemp
  61.   issue, industrial and medical, as well as civil rights.
  62.  
  63.  3) Veteran political strategists and dedicated volunteers
  64.   who have traveled to other states, and even other 
  65.   countries, to promote hemp legalization. Volunteers and
  66.   resources of the GRP are available to anyone who needs
  67.   assistance in getting a chapter started.
  68.  
  69.  The Grassroots Party needs volunteers.
  70.  
  71.  Hemp legalization is up to those whose political
  72. sophistication goes beyond a slogan on a t-shirt.
  73. Those who are not in it to make a buck for themselves.
  74. Those who are not in it for an ego-trip.
  75. Those who are willing to to make a commitment.
  76. Those who are willing to do more than talk.
  77.  "Armchair activists" need not apply.
  78.  
  79. The time has come for the Hemp Movement to
  80. get off it's knees.
  81. The time has come for the Hemp Movement to become a
  82. political movement.
  83. The time has come to demand justice.
  84. The GRP is not about asking for change,
  85. it's about making change happen.
